Clinker /ˈklɪŋkər/ (German Klinker) – 1) in metallurgy – a residue formed during the processing of ores, zinc, lead, tin concentrates in rotary tube furnaces; sparingly soluble molten mass. K. is a raw material for metallurgical processing. 2) K. for laying on the road – a solid brick obtained by heating special (clinker) clay until it hardens (usually until it turns black or bluish-red); laid on the floors of roads, streets, industrial buildings; it is also sometimes used to collect foundations and sewers. 3) Cement K. I is a mixture of raw materials (such as limestone and clay) heated until they melt to form cement.
