Oolites /ˈuːlaɪts/ (from the Greek oon – egg and lithos – stone) are spherical or ellipsoidal formations of lime carbonate, oxides and silicates of iron and manganese, leptochlorites, etc., having a concentrically layered, sometimes radial structure (around the central core).
