Alifs

Alifs [`ælɪfs] (olifi) (Greek aleipho-oil, oil) – materials based on vegetable oils or alkyd resins containing oil; transparent liquid of yellow to dark red color, applies well to wood and metal. As a result of polymerization of the oil, thinly applied to the surface, it dries and forms an elastic film, insoluble in water and organic solvents. Drying is accelerated by adding driers to the composition of A. It is used in oil paints (dark and ready-to-use), primers, putties, as well as on wood, etc. It is used in the preparation of porous materials before painting.

Ex. Alifs, also known as alkyd resins, provide a durable and flexible protective layer when applied to surfaces, making them ideal for various industrial and artistic uses.
