Argon [ˈɑː.ɡɒn] (from Greek: argos-sust) – a chemical element in the group of inert gases, symbol Ar (lat. Argonum), at.n. 18, at.m. 39,948. Colorless and odorless gas; density 1.78 kg/m3, density=189oC. It makes up 0.93% of the atmosphere (by volume). A. the air is cooled to a very low temperature, and then it is taken into the rectification (separation) process. It is used as an inert medium in metallurgical and chemical processes, in welding techniques (for example, argon-arc welding), as well as as ionizing radiation fillers in electric lamps and mirrors.
Ex. Argon plays a critical role in various applications, from welding techniques like argon-arc welding to serving as an inert medium in metallurgical and chemical processes
