Azimuth [ˈæzɪməθ] (arabic as-sumut, plural as-samt – way, direction), in skylights, objects on the ground – the angle between the meridian plane of the observation point and the vertical plane passing through the observed light, object. If the vertical plane passes through the vertical line at the observation point, then the azimuth is called true or astronomical azimuth.
