Carriage

Carriage /ˈkarɪdʒ/ (Italian: carretta – cart) is an assembly of machines and mechanisms that usually moves along a guide.  In metal-cutting machines, the knob is the supporting part; in weaving machines, it is part of the mechanism that creates a zigzag when processing gas moles with small flowers or complex weaving.  K. is found in typewriters, bicycles (pedal mechanism), tracked vehicles (balanced K. with a support roller), etc. A special type of K. is used to accommodate drill hammers (drill K.).  Also called a trolley, the handle of which moves along a monorail;  designed for hanging cargo ropes inside and between workshops.  A mechanized machine is called a telpher.
