Nitromethane

Nitromethane /ˌnaɪtroʊˈmɛθeɪn/ liquid explosive used for in-situ blasting in oil and gas production. It was first synthesized in 1857 in Russia by L. N. Shishkov. Colorless liquid with the smell of bitter almonds; boiling point 101.2°C, freezing point – 28.4°C.
